Celebrating the Life of Clifford Neil Craig

December 3, 1944 – October 6, 2025

With hearts full of gratitude for a life well-lived, we honor the memory of Clifford Neil Craig, who was one of twins born in San Francisco, California, to Henry Neil Craig and Ruth Rose Craig on December 3, 1944. Cliff’s early years were marked by adventure when his family moved to Novato, where he discovered the joys of rural living. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering work ethic made him a cherished friend to many.

Cliff is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Michelle (“Miki”) Craig, his son, Russell Craig, his sister, Zina Vitcov, and fondly cherished memories remain of his twin sister, Lovetta Jones, who preceded him in passing.  He was also deeply devoted to his extended family, embracing his stepchildren and in-laws with the same warmth and generosity that defined all his relationships.  Cliff’s enduring love and loyalty were the cornerstones upon which his family flourished.

After graduating from Novato High School, Cliff’s life was filled with countless meaningful connections, in service as a First Lieutenant in the Army in Vietnam, in college obtaining his Civil Engineering degree, and throughout his employment. He pursued a lifelong career in the construction materials engineering and concrete industries, where his dedication and expertise were widely recognized. Cliff’s passion for his work was matched only by his love of mentoring up-and-coming engineers and technicians, generously sharing his knowledge and encouraging others to excel in the field.  His legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Cliff participated in the NCA & WNV Chapter throughout his career, serving on the Board of Directors, as Vice President, and as Chapter President in 1992. He managed the Chapter's Certification Program for over 15 years and served on various Chapter Convention committees, including ACI's 100th Anniversary Convention in 2004.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Cliff found immense joy in sailing on the San Francisco Bay and up and down the California Coast. The more senior members of the Chapter will remember him hosting 25 years of the Concrete Regatta from Belvedere to Angel Island each year in October.  The freedom and challenge of navigating open waters brought him peace, and he cherished countless days spent with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter at the bar of the San Francisco Yacht Club following a day onboard Leda II.

Cliff will not be remembered with sorrow, but with joy for the warmth, laughter, and generosity he shared so freely. His memory will be a constant source of strength and inspiration for those he loved.
