The Chapter's Certification Program Managers and staff continue to provide certification sessions through May of this year. More than 28 programs have been made available, covering Field Tech Grade 1, Aggregate Base, Aggregate Level 1 and Level 2, Strength Tester, Masonry Field and Lab, Adhesive Anchor Installer, and Post-Installed Concrete Anchor Installation Inspector certifications. Session sizes are still limited, and full PPE (including face masks) are required. To resolve the problem created by the abandonment of ACI's and ASTM's licensing agreement late last year, the Chapter has successfully negotiated a stand-alone arrangement with ASTM so it may continue to provide copies of the standards needed in order to satisfactorily complete various certification examinations. Each group of standards is now provided in a digital file (pdf) directly to the certification candidate. While the delivery method is new, Chapter staff remains confident that applicants will appreciate this move into the 21st century.
Chapter Vice President Jaymi Fridley is diligently working to bring virtual meetings with educational presentations of interest to the membership. February kicks off with a modified version of the Chapter's annual Student Night with CSU Chico. This virtual event will be held at lunchtime, rather than in the evening, to better suit the schedules of busy students and Chapter members. Please check out the website's Events page for all the details.
The annual joint meeting with the Structural Engineers Association of Central California (SEAOCC) will be held virtually on March 9th, and include a program highlighting the new Sacramento Discovery Museum. This will be a traditional evening meeting. Further details will be announced as they become available.
