Our Chapter's 2020 Concrete Construction Awards Infrastructure category winner, the Fulton Road Rehabilitation project, is making waves even outside the concrete and construction industries.
Save California Streets (sponsored by the League of California Cities, County Engineers Association of California, and the California State Association of Counties) is awarding the Fulton Road team with the “Overall Winner” award in the 2021 Outstanding Local Streets and Roads Project Awards. This is a very prestigious award that is popular among agency directors, supervisors, and councils. The “Overall Winner” is the highest accolade. The award website with details is available here: https://www.cacities.org/Top/News/News-Articles/2021/March/Sneak-peek-at-the-2021-Outstanding-Local-Streets-a
The project engineers and general contractor were also excited to win the Engineering News Review (ENR) 2020 Best Projects Award for the “Transit/Airports” category. The associations and academia who were involved in behind-the-scene aspects of the projects (plans and specification) even received recognition through recent articles and the award summaries. Overall, this project is proving to be a whole team effort with every member getting recognition for their individual contributions. It is nice to see our local concrete project being celebrated amongst all these diverse, yet interrelated, circles.
