The panel discussion at the Chapter’s Chico Student Night event offered students a wealth of practical insights from recent program graduates now working in the concrete and construction industry.
Panelists shared career advice, emphasizing the importance of networking, leveraging campus resources, and seeking mentors early. They discussed the varied nature of their roles, highlighting the value of adaptability, continual learning, and openness to new experiences—especially when transitioning from student to professional life.
The conversation also addressed challenges such as managing change in established workplaces, balancing work and personal life, and the significance of company culture and fit. Panelists encouraged students to start the job search and internship process early, ask questions, and not be afraid to seek help or make mistakes.
They stressed the benefits of involvement in organizations like ACI for building connections and accessing industry support.
Closing remarks celebrated the supportive professional community and urged students to stay engaged, be proactive, and take full advantage of available opportunities.
