The annual ASCE San Francisco Section Awards honor exceptional leadership, innovation, and contributions that advance the civil engineering profession and strengthen our communities throughout the San Francisco Section.

The Individual Awards celebrate professionals whose accomplishments and service have made a lasting impact on the industry. The Project Awards recognize exemplary civil engineering projects completed within the past two years that demonstrate excellence in design, construction, and community benefit.  Fifteen outstanding individuals and twenty projects were recognized for 2026.

Dr. Akthem Al-Manaseer is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at San José State University (SJSU) in California, where he has been a faculty member for over three decades. He is widely recognized for his academic contributions to concrete materials and structures, and leadership in related professional associations. Dr. Al-Manaseer has served in key roles in the NCA & WNV Chapter including Chapter President (2006)  and Student Activities Co-Chair, and on various ACI International committees.
