Program:  Elevating Industry Standards:  The Value and Impact of ACI Certification in Concrete Construction
(A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Chapter Certification Center’s Role in Advancing Quality, Safety, and Professional Growth)

Discover why obtaining ACI certification is vital for technicians and the concrete industry. This event will highlight the crucial role certification plays in ensuring quality and consistency in concrete work, supporting industry standards, and enhancing safety and reliability. Over the past three months, Chapter Certification Center Manager Emily Boirum, along with two assistants, has efficiently managed over thirty ACI certification sessions, serving more than 340 candidates. The presentation will provide valuable insight into the daily operations of the center, showcasing how certification programs elevate participants’ skills and professionalism while addressing challenges such as ADA accommodation requests, language barriers, and PPE requirements.

For those who haven't toured the Chapter Certification Center, there will be a chance to tour the facility and interact with Emily and her staff. Attendees will also learn about the expanded range of ACI certifications now available thanks to the new facility and the skilled team led by Emily. The session will focus on how ACI certification serves as the industry benchmark, why having a recognized standard is essential, and how testing materials to obtain accurate data supports the integrity of that standard.

Chapter President Michael Smith will share a testing agency’s perspective on managing inspector and technician certifications, emphasizing their benefits to both projects and the materials used for construction. Come enjoy lunch and seize this opportunity to see firsthand how ACI certification fosters sustainability and growth in the concrete industry across the Northern California and Western Nevada Chapter’s region.
